Leh: His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama visited Shesrap Skyedsal Ling Library and Learning center at Thiksey monastery and was received by H.E Thiksey Rinpoche, CEC LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson and Councillor Thiksey, Stanzin Chosfail. Ven. Monks of Thiksey monastery, SP Leh, PD Nidtya, President LBA Thupstan Chhewang, President Christian Community, Rev. Dechan Chamga, President Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam, Dr. Abdul Qayyum, and various other dignitaries were also present during the occasion.
His Holiness Dalai Lama consecrated Shesrap Skyedsal Ling Library and Learning Center. He also interacted with the school students during a Q&A session. His Holiness further shared his piece of advice highlighting the need for understanding secular ethics by promoting oneness among all human beings.
Later in the day, during a ceremonial function, CEC Tashi Gyalson handed over a 300-year-old (approx) restored antique Thangka painting to H.E Thiksey Rinpoche in the presence of EC Culture, Stanzin Chosphel, Councillor Thiksey Stanzin Chosfail and Dy Secy Cultural Academy, Tsewang Paljor today. The restoration work has been sponsored by LAHDC Leh and was completed by a group of local women group from Matho village, ‘Himalayan Art Preservers’.
