Leh: On the occasion of India’s 76th Independence Day, the VC Paltan and Parashu Brigade, Nyemo organised a symbolic ceremonial event with the theme ‘Veterans Rally’ under the banner of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav commemorating India’s 75 glorious years of Independence today at Nyemo.
The Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson presided over the event at Parish Brigade, Nyemo. He was accompanied by Commander, Parashu Brigade, Brig. B.S Negi.
Veteran Ex-Gallantry Awardees including Ashok Chakra, Nb Sub. Chhering Motup; MVC, Col. Sonam Wangchuk; VrC, Hony. Capt Tashi Chhepal; VrC, Hony. Capt Chhering Stobdan; SC, Nb Sub Chhering Angchok; Veer Naaris, Tsering D/o Sep Sonam Wangchok (VrC), Chhering Herbal W/o Nk Phunchok Angdus (SM); Chairperson, BDC Nyemo; Retired IGP, T.Phuntsog and around 130 Army Ex-Servicemen from the nearby villages of Nyemo attended the event as the special guests.


CEC Tashi Gyalson in the presence of all the dignitaries hoisted the tricolour to mark India’s 76th Independence Day. He also honoured the Gallantry Awardees and Veer Naaris present during the occasion.
In his Address, CEC Tashi Gyalson stated that the people of Ladakh have made numerous sacrifices and contributed immensely in maintaining the sovereignty and integrity of this nation. He also added that the Indian Army has a crucial role to play in the overall development of Ladakh over the years. He highlighted that it is our duty to participate collectively in the development of the region in particular and the nation at large. He also extended his good wishes on the occasion of India’s 76th Independence Day.
Vibrant cultural performances were also conducted during the event.
