Drass, Sept 5: The two-day Drass Festival, organised under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, concluded on a vibrant note at the iconic Manman Top View Point in Lamochan, celebrating the region’s rich cultural heritage while reinforcing the message of a drug-free society.

The concluding ceremony featured an array of colourful cultural performances by local artists, singers and cultural groups, showcasing the unique traditions and artistic diversity of Drass. The Army Band, Humas Band, 8 Mahar Regiment Band, renowned local singer Zain Drassi, and students from High School Kharbu and Higher Secondary School Drass enthralled the audience with their performances. A thought-provoking skit on drug abuse presented by RANThAG under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan emerged as one of the highlights of the event.

The festival witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of residents, particularly youth, who gathered from different parts of Drass, making the concluding ceremony lively and memorable. The event provided a significant platform for local talent while fostering community participation and promoting the cultural identity of the region.

Coinciding with Teachers’ Day, the organisers also paid tribute to the invaluable contribution of teachers in shaping society. Educators were felicitated and appreciated for their commitment to nurturing and inspiring future generations.

The programme reiterated the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, creating awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraging youth to embrace a healthy, responsible and drug-free lifestyle.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Manman Top, the festival successfully blended culture, music, public participation and social awareness while showcasing the tourism and cultural potential of Drass.

The concluding ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner Drass, Superintendent of Police, LAHDC Councillors of Bhimbat and Drass, Army officers, teachers, senior citizens and hundreds of youth, marking the successful culmination of the two-day celebration with a strong message of cultural pride, unity, youth empowerment and social responsibility.
