Leh, October 27: The Department of Agriculture, Leh, held an Orientation and Farmers’ Training Camp on Natural Farming at Liktsey village under the National Mission on Edible Oils and Oilseeds. The event brought together farmers from Liktsey, Tukla, and Tarchit to learn sustainable techniques aimed at improving soil health and boosting local oilseed production.
The session was led by SDAO Leh, Mohd. Ramzan, with expert inputs from Phuntsog Tundup (Head, KVK Nyoma), Tashi (Scientist, KVK Nyoma), and agricultural officers Tsering Dolker, Stanzin Idong, Rinchen Angmo, and Hashim Akhoon.
Participants received hands-on training in preparing natural inputs, managing soil fertility, and adopting eco-friendly cultivation methods. Farmers also shared local innovations and discussed ways to scale up natural farming practices in the trans-Himalayan region.
