Sankoo: — The Zonal Education Office Sankoo successfully organized the Zonal Level Cooking Competition 2025 for Mid-Day Meal (MDM) cooks today at Government Higher Secondary School Sankoo, under the centrally sponsored PM POSHAN Scheme. The event celebrated culinary skill, nutritional awareness, and community pride, bringing together top-performing MDM cooks from across the zone.
The participants in this prestigious competition were the winners of Cluster Level Cooking Competitions held earlier at their respective cluster centers, making this zonal event a true showcase of excellence.
The programme was graced by Sh. Tsering Wangdus, Deputy Chief Education Officer Sankoo, as Chief Guest, and Sh. Sonam Smanla, Principal Government Higher Secondary School Sankoo, as Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries present included Sh. Ali Rahmat Cho, Zonal Education Planning Officer Sankoo, and Sh. Sajjad Hussain, Headmaster Government Girls High School Sankoo.
The jury panel, comprising ZEPO Sankoo, HM Girls High School Sankoo, Sh. Ghulam Abass Beheshti evaluated the dishes with fairness and expertise, ensuring a transparent and spirited competition.
After a vibrant display of culinary talent, the winners were announced as follows:
1st Position: Government Primary School Umba
2nd Position: Government Middle School Lungma
3rd Position: Government Middle School Barsoo
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest lauded the dedication and efforts of all participating cooks. He emphasized the importance of ensuring nutritious, hygienic, and balanced meals for children, underlining that the health of students is directly linked to their academic performance and overall well-being. He urged the cooks to continue maintaining quality standards in the Mid-Day Meal scheme and to adopt innovative, healthy cooking practices.
