Leh: Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson, chaired a meeting today at the Council Secretariat, Leh, in the presence of Hon’ble Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Leh, Romil Singh; and Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh, Shruti Arora, regarding the 3rd edition of the “Climate Cup Football Tournament 2025.”

The meeting witnessed a detailed discussion on the arrangements for the 3rd edition of the Climate Cup, including participation of teams, opening and closing ceremonies, logistics, branding, and other key preparations. Scheduled to be held in the first week of September in Leh, the Climate Cup has now grown into one of the important events for UT Ladakh. It serves multiple purposes, not only promoting football but also carrying forward a strong message of sustainability and environmental consciousness.
Speaking on the occasion, H’CEC Tashi Gyalson said that the Climate Cup is a very significant event for Ladakh, serving the dual purpose of sporting excellence and environmental responsibility. He stressed that Ladakh, like the rest of the Himalayas, is vulnerable to climate change and disasters, which makes such initiatives all the more important. He further added that the tournament also promotes initiatives such as EV cars to reduce carbon footprints and should be taken to greater heights with more collective effort and vision. Calling it a good initiative for a good cause, he urged all stakeholders to support it wholeheartedly, stating that it benefits not only Ladakh but the world at large.
The H’CEC also directed the Chief Medical Officer to keep an ambulance and medical facilities on standby during the tournament. He further instructed ALHGHA, ALTOA, LTTA, and other associations, as well as the concerned departments, to extend every possible support in their own capacity to ensure the success of the event.
