Leh: In a bid to strengthen the livestock and fisheries sectors in Ladakh, Dr. Mohammad Ismail, Director of Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, UT Ladakh, conducted a detailed inspection of major fish farms located at Sindhu, Shey, and Chochut in Leh district.
Accompanied by Dr. Iftiqar Hussain, Director of Sheep Husbandry, UT Ladakh, and the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Leh, the visit aimed to assess the functioning, production status, infrastructure, and overall management practices at the farms.
Dr. Ismail expressed satisfaction with the efficient operations at the sites and appreciated the efforts of the staff in maintaining the farms.
He stressed the importance of meticulous record-keeping, including livestock data, production logs, and feed registers, as a means to enhance transparency and monitor performance effectively.
Later in the evening, Dr. Iftiqar Hussain also visited the Merino Sheep Farm at Matho, where he reviewed ongoing infrastructure work and farm operations.
The joint inspection concluded with interactive sessions with field staff. Both Directors reiterated their commitment to supporting local farm development and assured that the departments will continue working closely with ground teamsto strengthen Leh’s livestock and fisheries sectors further.
Their visits reflect the UT administration’s ongoing push to boost agricultural and allied sectors through regular field monitoring, infrastructure upgrades, and staff engagement.
