Leh: The Health Department of Leh successfully concluded its ‘Month of Compassion’ campaign, which was observed across the district throughout July 2025. The initiative focused on promoting inclusive, accessible, and empathetic healthcare services for all, especially the underserved and remote communities.
A range of impactful healthcare activities were carried out at the district headquarters, in Kharnakling, and across all block-level areas. Mobile Medical Units were deployed to ensure that even the most remote villages received necessary medical services.
Healthcare professionals, community volunteers, parents, and local residents participated actively, helping to strengthen trust and engagement between the healthcare system and the public.
The campaign included a blood donation camp on July 5 in Leh, which saw an encouraging response, including several first-time donors. A dedicated assessment camp for children with special needs was organized in Kharnakling, offering medical evaluations, counseling for parents and caregivers, and guidance for follow-up care.
Mobile units also provided general health checkups, essential medicines, and conducted health awareness drives on hygiene and disease prevention across the district.
By the end of the campaign, the Month of Compassion had not only expanded healthcare access but also helped promote a more humane approach to service delivery. The initiative proved effective in involving the community and highlighting the need for consistent care for vulnerable populations.
Looking ahead, the Health Department plans to organize regular health camps focused on children with special needs, elderly citizens, and residents in remote locations.
The department has urged people to continue supporting these efforts to create a more compassionate and healthier Ladakh.
