Leh: A district-wide campaign for the revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll began today in Leh with the launch of a special camp by the district administration.
The inaugural event was held in the presence of Deputy Commissioner and District Panchayat Election Officer, Romil Singh Donk (IAS), Additional Deputy Commissioner Ghulam Mohd, District Panchayat Officer-cum-Electoral Registration Officer, and officials from NIC Leh.
The revision drive started with the public display of updated electoral rolls at designated polling booths. The process is being overseen by Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and Panchayat Electoral Booth Officers to ensure smooth facilitation of changes to the voter list.
The aim of the special camps is to enable eligible citizens to update their voter details, including addition of new voters, deletion of ineligible entries, correction of errors, and change of address within the Panchayat rolls. The campaign is particularly focused on enrolling young voters who have turned 18 years of age as of January 1, 2025.
Deputy Commissioner Romil Singh Donk emphasized the importance of accurate and inclusive electoral rolls for strengthening grassroots democracy. He urged citizens across the district to make use of this opportunity to verify and correct their entries.
The Electoral Registration Officer has called upon all eligible voters to participate actively in the ongoing drive to ensure they are able to exercise their democratic rights in the upcoming Panchayat elections.
