Kargil: In a significant step towards strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in Ladakh, Dr. Tashi Thinles, Director of Health and Medical Education, UT Ladakh, conducted a comprehensive review and physical verification of health projects worth ₹129.67 crore currently underway at District Hospital Kargil (Kurbathang). These projects are being executed under the Special Development Package (SDP) to enhance medical facilities in the region.
Accompanied by the Section Officer (Administration) and Statistical Officer (Planning), Dr. Thinles inspected ongoing construction works, including the additional hospital block and new staff quarters. He stressed the importance of adhering to quality standards and ensuring timely completion so that patients and healthcare workers can benefit from improved infrastructure.
During the visit, Dr. Thinles also assessed the overall health services at the hospital and chaired a high-level review meeting with senior officials of the Health Department. The discussion focused on the progress of key health initiatives, challenges in service delivery, and strategies to improve healthcare outcomes across the district.
A poignant moment of the visit was Dr. Thinles’s interaction with victims of a recent car accident undergoing treatment at the hospital. He personally checked on their condition and assured them of continued support and quality care from the department.
He was joined by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kacho Liyaqat Ali Khan, Medical Superintendent Dr. Mohd Abass, senior consultants, and engineers from the executing agency. Their presence reflected a united effort to improve public health services in Kargil.
In addition, local delegations raised various grievances with the visiting team. Dr. Thinles directed concerned officials to take swift action and assured the public that their issues would be resolved on priority.
The visit highlighted the UT administration’s strong resolve to ensure quality healthcare access for all, backed by major infrastructure investments and people-centric service delivery.
