Leh: Member of Parliament and BJP Himachal Pradesh General Secretary, Prof (Dr) Sikander Kumar, visited Leh today, engaging with party leadership and expressing strong support for grassroots entrepreneurship and local artisanship.
During his visit, Prof Kumar met with newly appointed BJP Ladakh State President Tashi Khachi at the State BJP Office.
Visited local handicrafts shops and handloom products by Self Help Groups (SHG) and Local Entrepreneurs in Leh, Ladakh.

He congratulated Khachi on assuming charge and shared his optimism about the party’s growing presence in the Union Territory. “Under your leadership, BJP will reach new heights in Leh and Ladakh,” he stated.
Prof Kumar also visited local handicraft and handloom outlets run by Self Help Groups and small entrepreneurs.
He interacted with artisans who are preserving Ladakh’s cultural legacy through traditional crafts and handmade textiles.

Appreciating their dedication, he urged greater promotion of indigenous products through initiatives like Vocal for Local and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
In addition to these engagements, Prof Kumar participated in the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports (EWCYS) meeting held in Leh.
Along with fellow MPs, he reviewed the region’s education system, addressing challenges such as infrastructure development, staff shortages, and the need for improved access to quality learning.
