Leh: In a major step towards preventing cervical cancer among adolescent girls, Chairman/CEC LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, chaired a high-level meeting to finalise the implementation strategy for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign, which is scheduled to be launched on July 27, 2025, across the Leh district.
The meeting brought together key officials including Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk, Executive Councillors Ghulam Mehdi and Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Councillor Kunzang Lotos, and senior officers from the Health, Education, and Social Welfare Departments.
CMO Leh Dr. Dolma Chuskit, Medical Superintendent SNM Hospital Dr. Rinchen Chosdol, CEO Leh Deldan Angmo, CCF LAHDC Zulfiqar Ali, DRC Mohd Abbas, and DSWO Hidaitullah Mir were also present.
The focus of the meeting was on identifying the target age group, with emphasis on vaccinating girls from Classes 10 to 12. The Education Department was tasked with compiling a list of eligible students from both residential and non-residential schools, ensuring that no beneficiary is left out.
Officials also reviewed the proposed vaccination centres and discussed budgetary and logistical requirements to ensure the campaign runs smoothly.
Reaffirming LAHDC’s commitment, CEC Tashi Gyalson stated that the health of adolescent girls remains a top priority, and the administration will provide full support to ensure a successful and inclusive rollout.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to deliver a well-coordinated and timely vaccination campaign across the district.
