Leh, July 11, 2025:
The Department of Fisheries, Leh, celebrated National Fish Farmers Day on July 10 with enthusiastic participation from local fish farmers at Fish Farm Chuchot and Fish Farm Diskit, Nubra. As part of the celebrations, interactive sessions were held to promote awareness about key central government initiatives supporting the fisheries sector.
Farmers were sensitized about the National Fisheries Digital Platform (NFDP), the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme, and the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). The sessions focused on guiding farmers through the NFDP registration process, highlighting the benefits of institutional credit through KCC, and detailing the financial and technical assistance available under PMMSY to boost aquaculture productivity and income.
The Assistant Director of Fisheries, Leh, along with departmental officials, addressed the gatherings, sharing valuable insights and reaffirming the department’s commitment to empowering fish farmers. The department aims to continue its efforts through awareness drives, training programs, and improved infrastructure to strengthen the fisheries sector across the district.
