Leh: Deputy Chairman of LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk, chaired a review meeting to assess preparations for the upcoming 4th CEC Cup Polo Tournament, scheduled to take place from July 15 to 20, 2025, at the historic Shagaran Polo Ground, Chuchot Gongma.
The meeting was attended by Councillor Chuchot Mirza Hussain, ADC Leh Ghulam Mohd, CAHO Dr. Stanzin Rabgais, Tsewang Paljor (DS, SOCA Grade-I, Cultural Academy Leh), Padma Angmo (Assistant Director, Tourism), DYSSO Tsering Tashi, President of the Polo Association Tundup Dorjey, and members of the Indus Chushot Polo Club.
During the meeting, key components of the tournament were reviewed — including the finalised CEC Cup trophy, procurement of polo sticks, refreshment arrangements, and ongoing promotional activities. Deputy Chairman Angchuk emphasized the importance of effective outreach through social media and mainstream media to boost public engagement and event visibility.
The discussion also addressed repairs of hoardings at the venue and other logistical arrangements. A follow-up meeting will be conducted soon to finalise the list of dignitaries to be invited and to review the opening ceremony preparations.
Stakeholders stressed the importance of investing in training programs for youth players, providing incentives for participation, and developing a long-term strategy to promote and preserve Ladakh’s traditional sport of polo.
The CEC Cup Polo Tournament remains a flagship event in Ladakh’s sports calendar, celebrating its rich cultural and equestrian heritage while encouraging sporting excellence among the youth.
