Dharamshala: Union Minister of Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu attended the Long Life Prayer Offering (Tenshug) for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at Tsuglagkhang Temple, Dharamshala, on the eve of His Holiness’s 90th birthday.
Kiren Rijiju was received at Pathankot Railway Station by Kalon, a senior minister of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), and was accompanied to Dharamshala to take part in the sacred ceremony.
Chief Minister Khandu also joined the gathering, reflecting the deep cultural and spiritual ties between Arunachal Pradesh and the Tibetan community.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), CM Khandu shared moments from the spiritual gathering, expressing deep reverence:
“Fortunate to attend the Long Life Prayer Ceremony for His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Dharamshala. A moment of deep spiritual connection and collective prayers for the well-being of our guiding light.”
The event was part of a week-long celebration organised by the Central Tibetan Administration, drawing thousands of devotees and dignitaries from around the world.
The atmosphere was filled with devotion as traditional prayers and offerings were made for His Holiness’s continued good health and long life.
While CM Pema Khandu later shared his reflections on social media, Union Minister Rijiju has so far made no public statement regarding the ceremony.
Also in attendance were Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang, CTA President Penpa Tsering, and Hollywood actor Richard Gere.
