Leh: Lt. Governor of Union Territory of Ladakh, RK_l Mathur attended the Buddha Purnima celebrations at Polo Ground in Leh.
The event was also graced by His Holiness Dri kung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche and His Eminence Thuksey Rinpoche.
Addressing the gathering Hon’ble Lt. Gov RK Mathur greeted everyone on the occasion and informed of various initiatives of the Ladakh Administration in preserving the valuable cultural and religious artifacts in the form of museums within the monasteries of Ladakh.
During the event, he spoke about the upcoming visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Ladakh. In his speech, Lt. Guv. appreciated the initiative taken by HH Thiksey Rinpoche and President LBA, Thupstan Chhewang for extending the invitation to His Holiness to visit Ladakh.
He also spoke of the ‘Sacred Grove’ initiative of the administration where Juniper trees (shukpa) will be planted across 30 monasteries.
He also appreciated the contribution of Go Green Go Organic Org. headed by HH Chetsang Rinpoche for carrying out plantation drives.
