Leh: The Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) LAHDC- Kargil, Feroz Khan has sought intervention of Lieutenant Governor R K Mathur to address the problems being faced by medical students of Ladakh after Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examination denied admission citing domicile certificate.

In a letter addressed to Lieutenant Governor R K Mathur, Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) LAHDC- Kargil, Feroz Khan said that aspiring students of Ladakh who want to take admissions in private paramedical colleges of J&K UT have been barred by the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examination on the grounds that these students do not possess the “Domicile Certificate” of UT J&K.

“Students of Ladakh are under the compulsion to apply in these institutions of J&K as there are no enough seats in the GNM colleges of UT Ladakh to cater to the needs of the students,” he wrote in a letter.
“I would like to state that the same matter had earlier been taken up with the UT J&K by the administration of UT Ladakh on the request of LAHDC Kargil for the BSc (Nursing) Course,” he added.
He further added that the aspiring students have represented to this office and are currently sitting on strike at Kargil House Jammu.
“The protesting students are mostly females and therefore the matter needs to be addressed on priority,” he said.
He requested LG Mathur to direct the concerned to take up the issue with the concerned in the UT of J&K with the aim to resolve the same at an earliest.
“An early action in this regard shall be highly solicited,” he said.
