Leh: The cancer cases have slightly increase in the Ladakh as the new created Union Territory has reported 302 cases in the current fiscal year.

As per the data shared in Lok Sabha during ongoing winter session of Parliament, the Ladakh has reported 302 cancer cases in 2022, which is slightly rise as compared to last year 2021.
In 2021, the Union territory had reported 294 cases while in 2020, the number of cases of were 286.
As per the data, the union territory has reported 882 cases in last three years.
Moreover, the Indian Council of Medical Research’s (ICMR)- National Cancer Registry Programme (NCRP) has claimed trhe percent increase in the estimated incidence of cancer cases from the year 2018 to 2019 in Rajasthan is 1.9%.
According to National Health Profile 2019 there has been increase in reporting of cancer cases and the most common cancers include oral, breast and cervical cancer.
The Central Government is implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme “Strengthening of Tertiary Cancer Care Centres Facilities Scheme”, in order to enhance the facilities for tertiary care of cancer.
19 State Cancer Institutes (SCIs) and 20 Tertiary Care Cancer Centres (TCCCs) have been approved so far under the said scheme.
Setting up of National Cancer Institute at Jhajjar (Haryana) and second campus of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, Kolkata are also steps to enhance the capacity for treatment of cancer in the country.
According to Indian Council of Medical Research-National Cancer Registry Programme Report 2020, the 28 Population Based Cancer Registry (PBCR) registered 100887 cancer cases yearly.
Overall, the Population Based cancer registries currently cover 16.4% (198.3 million) of Indiapopulation.Data related with cancer patient who received palliative care in Rajasthan.
