Leh: Bhikkhu Sanghasena, the Founder President and Spiritual Director of Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Leh received the prestigious “Swami Rama Humanitarian Award for the year 2022” at a special function held at the Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun.
The program was attended by many national and international delegates and followers of H.H Swami Rama. Bhikkhu Sanghasena led a delegation of some of the important members of MIMC Lqadakh including Mr. M.K Gupta, Mr. Anil Kumar Jain and Ms. Nidhi Muthane. The Award carries an amount of Rs. 5,00,000 (Rupees Five Lakh), a Citation and a Gold medal.
The Award was presented to Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena through the hands of the chief guest of the occasion Ms. Ritu Khanduri, the Speaker of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly and honorable vice chancellor of the Swami Rama Himalayan University Dr. Vijay Dhasmana recognising various humanitarian and spiritual services rendered by Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre – MIMC under the guidance of its founder Bhikkhu Sanghasena.
While receiving the award, Bhikkhu Sanghasena thanked the jury headed by Shri Prafulla C. Pant, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India and Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, the Vice Chancellor of the Swami Rama Himalayan University for conferring the award. He paid his tribute to the very legendary H.H Swami Rama and recalled his meeting with him at his beautiful Ashram in Rishikesh many years back. He expressed his profound appreciation to the followers of Swami Rama who have initiated and carried out unbounded spiritual and humanitarian services with the Blessings of HH Swami Rama.
While addressing Bhikkhu Sanghasena said “In the name of all the members, supporters, well-wishers, and students of Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre; In the name of the people of Ladakh and in the name of the millions of people in India and abroad who believe in humanitarian services, with much gratitude and humility I accept this award. As a humble servant of Lord Buddha in the robes, on an individual level, such awards and recognition do not matter so much to me, However, such recognition will certainly inspire and motivate all staff members, students, and all supporters of my organization to move forward with much greater zeal and enthusiasm in carrying forward our humble mission to serve the Humanity under its motto Compassion in action and meditation in action”.
Bhikkhu Sanghasena also had a meaningful meeting and discussion with Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, the Vice Chancellor of the Swami Rama Himalayan University. They discussed and deliberated on many future collaborations. Beginning with collaborating in the medical mission of Mahabodhi Ladakh, they very kindly agreed to sponsor and train 10 nursing students from Ladakh at their prestigious nursing college in the Swami Rama Himalayan University.
