Leh, September 29, 2026: The Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh, through the Civil Aviation Department, has recommenced subsidized single-engine helicopter services across Ladakh with effect from September 29, 2026.
The helicopter services are being operated through M/s Pawan Hans Limited under a Wet Lease Agreement, with the support of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.
The recommencement of the services aims to improve air connectivity within the Union Territory, particularly to remote and far-flung areas, and facilitate the movement of residents and tourists, besides supporting emergency medical requirements.
The flights are operated by experienced, instrument-rated and licensed crew, with airfield security and passenger screening in place.
The subsidized passenger fares for various routes have been notified as follows:
The subsidized helicopter services will operate on the Leh–Kargil route with a flying time of 50 minutes at a fare of ₹7,750 per passenger, while the Leh–Padum route will have a flying time of 45 minutes at ₹6,975 per passenger. The Leh–Lingshad, Leh–Dibling, Leh–Nyerak and Leh–Diskit routes will each have a flying time of 30 minutes, with a subsidized fare of ₹4,650 per passenger. The Leh–Turtuk route will have a flying time of 40 minutes, with a fare of ₹6,190 per passenger.
The District Administrations have been directed to extend the requisite logistical support, ensure operational readiness of the designated helipads and nominate Liaison/Nodal Officers for effective coordination of the helicopter services.
The Deputy Commissioners have also been directed to ensure wide publicity of the services through their respective social media handles and other print media platforms.
