Leh, September 26, 2026: A one-day training session on the filling of the Village Directory (VD) and Town Directory (TD) Schedules under the District Census Handbook (DCHB) for Census 2027 was conducted at the DC Office, Leh.
The training was imparted by Shri Jatinder Kumar, AD & Nodal Officer for UT Ladakh, and Shri Tashi Otsal, District Census Coordinator, UT Ladakh. The session was attended by District Census Charge Officers from various tehsils, field functionaries and Technical Assistants.
During the training, detailed presentations were delivered on key concepts and requirements of the District Census Handbook. The Nodal Officer emphasised the importance of accurate and comprehensive data collection in accordance with Census and Rural Development norms.
A detailed section-wise discussion of the Village Directory Schedule 2027 was also conducted, covering education facilities, healthcare and wellness centres, tap water and drainage systems, communication facilities, banking and financial services, electricity and fuel availability, land utilisation and irrigation, as well as major agricultural commodities, manufactured products and handicrafts.
All sections of the Town Directory (TD) were also covered during the training.
The programme concluded with a practical tutorial on the “District Census Handbook Data Collection 2027” App and web portal. The District Coordinator demonstrated the test portal, including user creation, allocation of villages and towns, data entry and submission procedures.
All field staff were instructed to install the application and commence data collection from October 1, 2026.
The training session concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair.
