NUBRA: Beniwal on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting with officials of State Bank of India and Jammu and Kashmir Bank to review banking services and discuss measures for strengthening financial inclusion across Nubra district.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the crucial role of banks as key stakeholders in the newly created district and stressed the need for strengthening banking infrastructure, efficient account management services, and enhanced public outreach mechanisms.
Key discussions focused on the functioning of Ultra Small Bank (USB) branches and Business Correspondents operating in different parts of the district. Special emphasis was laid on expanding banking facilities in remote and far-flung areas to ensure better accessibility of financial services for the local population.
The Deputy Commissioner directed bank officials to intensify awareness campaigns in villages regarding various government schemes linked to agriculture, insurance, and credit facilities so that maximum people can benefit from these welfare initiatives.
The meeting also witnessed detailed deliberations on improving coordination between the district administration and banking institutions for ensuring efficient and timely delivery of banking services across Nubra.
