Kargil, December 25:
Reaffirming the Union Territory administration’s commitment to equitable and inclusive growth, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Shri Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday said that development must reach every corner of the region, especially far-flung, remote and border areas, so that every citizen benefits from progress and an improved quality of life.
Addressing a public grievance redressal camp at Shakar-Chiktan, the Lt Governor interacted directly with residents and representatives of 16 villages, patiently hearing their concerns related to infrastructure, public services and welfare schemes. He assured the people that all genuine grievances raised during the camp would be examined carefully and taken up with the concerned departments for time-bound redressal.
Highlighting the transformation witnessed since Ladakh became a Union Territory in 2019, Shri Kavinder Gupta said the pace of development has accelerated significantly, with focused initiatives in roads, healthcare, education, power supply, internet connectivity and administrative services. He credited this momentum to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who, he said, has given top priority to the holistic development of Ladakh.
The Lt Governor lauded the people of Kargil, particularly those living in border areas, for their resilience, patriotism and sacrifices, stating that their contribution to national security remains invaluable. Referring to recent health sector initiatives, he noted the inauguration of a state-of-the-art 3 Tesla MRI facility at District Hospital Kargil, which will greatly enhance advanced diagnostic services in the region.
Emphasising youth empowerment, Shri Kavinder Gupta said education, skill development and employment opportunities remain key focus areas, enabling young people to actively participate in Ladakh’s growth while continuing to live and work in their homeland.
Assuring the residents of Shakar-Chiktan, the Lt Governor said region-specific demands, including better access to postal and banking services, improved BSNL connectivity and strengthening of basic civic amenities, would be addressed on priority. He reiterated the UT administration’s resolve to function with transparency, dedication and public participation to ensure sustainable development across Ladakh.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil Shri Rakesh Kumar, SSP Kargil Shri Nitin Yadav, SDM Shakar-Chiktan Ravi Shanker, and senior district officers were present on the occasion.
