Kargil, Dec 11: The Ski Mountaineering Association Ladakh, in collaboration with Government High School Thasgam, celebrated International Mountain Day by organizing a student trekking programme in the surrounding mountain ranges of Thasgam.
The trek was led by renowned national skier and ski coach Syed Shamsuddin, who briefed students on the global significance of the day, stressing the crucial role mountains play in sustaining ecosystems, supporting biodiversity and ensuring water security. He also underlined the importance of physical fitness, mountain safety and building a meaningful connection with nature.
During the interactive session, students pledged to protect mountain ecosystems and called on the public to adopt responsible practices to safeguard fragile mountain landscapes for future generations.
