Kargil, Nov 30:
Senior Dental Surgeon Dr. Iftikhar Ali Choqtayee, the first dental surgeon of Kargil, retired today after a distinguished service spanning nearly 28 years, marking the end of a pioneering chapter in the district’s healthcare history.
Dr. Iftikhar began his career in 1997 at District Hospital Kargil, becoming a central figure in establishing and advancing modern dental healthcare in the region. His dedication, vision, and commitment played a transformative role in strengthening the dental department, earning him widespread respect among colleagues and the community.
In recognition of his exemplary public service, the District Administration honoured him with a special award on 15th August.
Speaking at the farewell, Dr. Shabir Hussain lauded Dr. Iftikhar’s remarkable journey, calling him an inspiring professional and a guiding force for young medical practitioners. He said Dr. Iftikhar’s leadership and mentorship were instrumental in shaping the progress and success of the dental department in Kargil.
Expressing gratitude, Dr. Iftikhar thanked his colleagues for their unwavering support and credited teamwork for the department’s achievements over the years.
Dr. Iftikhar Ali superannuated today, November 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, compassion, and invaluable service to the people of Kargil.
