LEH: A passport seva kendra (PSK) will be soon established in Kargil, while special passport camps will be organised in Leh and Kargil in the meantime, for the Haj pilgrims from the union territory, said Mohd Ali Majaz, Chairperson, UT Ladakh Haj Committee.
In an exclusive conversation with Indus Dispatch, Majaz thanked various religious and social organisations for the grand welcome he received upon his arrival from New Delhi on Monday.
Majaz said that a delegation from UT Ladakh Haj Committee, including BJP State President, Phuntsog Stanzin and Councillor, Chuchot, Mirza Hussain, had called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, at Raj Niwas on Monday evening and took up with him various issues.
Majaz emphasised the need for establishing a Haj House in Kargil and engaging ulema to guide the Haj pilgrims. Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, who joined via video conferencing, requested for intervention in setting up a Passport Seva Kendra in Kargil.
“The LG has assured us that a Passport Seva Kendra in Kargil will be established soon. Until then, special camps will be organised in both the districts for Haj pilgrims,” he told Indus Dispatch.
Majaz informed that he apprised the LG about the efforts to provide the best possible facilities for the Haj pilgrims this year. He also informed the need to set up the Haj Committee Office at the earliest.
LG Mathur congratulated the newly appointed members of the Haj Committee. He advised that the members of the Haj Committee may visit Srinagar and Mumbai to understand the functioning of the Haj Committee, get capacity-building trainings and prepare a list of facilities needed to serve the needs of the Haj pilgrims. He assured that the Administration would provide requisite support to the Haj Committee.
