Leh: Chairman/CEC, Adv. Tashi Gyalson along with Dy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk, EC Agriculture Stanzin Chosphel, EC RDD Tashi Namgyal Yakzee and DC Leh Shrikant Suse toured the villages of Sku-Markha constituency on 22nd and 23rd September 2022. Councillor Sku-Markha, Sonam Norboo ad HoDs from all the District Departments accompanied H’CEC during the tour.

The officials addressed public gatherings at Tsogsti, Chilling, Sumdha, Sku, Kaya, Hankar and Markha on the first day and further visited Rumbak, Rumchung and Jingchen villages on the second day. They inaugurated a 72 mtr span motorable bridge over the Zanskar river at Tsachuthang. They further inaugurated Community Hall at Sku and the electrification of Chilling-Sumdha and Rumbak-Jingchen villages during the tour.
People of the Sku-Markha constituency apprised CEC and his team of District officers with their grievances and demands which include the need for solarised water lifting pumps, chain-link fencing, restoration of Irrigation canals, restoration of road connectivities affected due to flood, and upgradation of healthcare centres.
Other demands include the need for sports infrastructures, apricot dryer machines, 4G Mobile towers, Community Halls, community toilets, the requirement of adequate electricity line-man, allotment of pasturelands, etc.

Councillor Sku-Markha, Sonam Norboo highlighted the major issues being faced in executing developmental works due to restrictions imposed by Wildlife Department. On behalf of the people of the Sku-Markha constituency, Councillor Sonam extended his gratitude to the Hill Council and District Administration led by CEC Gyalson for the completion of major developmental projects in the far-flung villages.
Taking note of the grievances, CEC Gyalson assured the people of Sku-Markha constituency to resolve all the issues and would work on fulfilling the genuine demands raised before him. He also informed that the issues due to wildlife restrictions are significant in the entire district and the Hill Council is working tirelessly in resolving the issue through adequate deliberations with the UT Administration and the Union Government. He ensured that the de-notification process would start soon and all the planned developmental projects would commence smoothly in the entire district.
